Bishopbriggs Tennis Club places great importance on taking an active role in encouraging local young people to take part in physical exercise through tennis.

Club coach, Allwyn, works with East Dunbartonshire's Active School's co-ordinators and local teachers to deliver tennis sessions within local schools. In 2012 over 400 local children in 11 schools received tennis lessons or taster sessions from Allwyn.

We are particularly proud of the strong partnership that Allwyn has developed with the Additional Support Needs schools. Tennis festivals are held at the end of the coaching sessions and these events are supported by Tennis Scotland. In 2013, Allwyn is working with a player from Merkland School who is travelling to Bath in August to take part in the Special Olympics.
