Bishopbriggs Tennis Club is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Head Coach to manage, develop and deliver its tennis coaching programme.
The Job
Bishopbriggs Tennis Club is offering a great opportunity to build on the success of the existing coaching programme and develop a new coaching programme.
As part of the role the Head Coach would:
Remuneration would be on an hourly basis with the number of hours required per week varying dependent on the time of year and number of coaching sessions within the club programme. In addition to this there would be a fixed monthly payment for the administration of the coaching programme and maintenance of the Coaches file as per Tennismark requirements.
There will also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to increase their hours via private work within the area with a percentage paid to the club if the courts at Bishopbriggs Tennis Club are used.
The Club
Bishopbriggs Tennis Club has 3 blaes courts which are open for play April – October.
During the winter we have arrangements in place to make use of tennis facilities at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre so that we can provide a year round coaching programme. Our club is involved in talks to relocate to a new sports complex with all-weather courts and we are looking for someone who can help maintain our current high standard of coaching during this exciting transition.
We have a strong membership base with over 150 members and a vibrant junior coaching programme with over 100 juniors engaged. We also have junior and senior teams competing in West of Scotland league and cup competitions and an adult beginners coaching programme. The club is also proud to be Tennismark accredited and of its excellent links with local schools.

- Review, manage, develop and operate the adult coaching programme
- Maintain the Tennismark coaching file
- Liaise with team captains to identify potential team players
- Assist with organisation of junior teams
- Maintain & develop local school links
- Attend committee meetings & provide monthly report update
- Report any health & safety issues to committee
- Assist with any other club related activities as reasonably expected

The Successful Candidate
- Must be LTA Licensed & Registered, and have a current First Aid certificate and CRB disclosure is essential;
- Will have UKCC Level 3 or higher qualification, or equivalent with valid accreditation and be committed to their Development. (We may consider a strong Level 2 looking to complete Level 3 within the next 12 months.)
- Will have excellent communication and organisation skills;
- Will be competent in the practical and administrative aspects of coaching;
- Must be willing to develop and act as a mentor for junior coaches and young leaders and prepared to work in evenings and weekends;
- Will work alongside the club’s Committee and assist with attracting new members, promoting the interests of the club and raising awareness.
- Must have the enthusiasm and desire to engage with the local community, schools and other partners.
